It’s also the Circuit for the Malaysian MotoGP.
The main track of the Malaysian GP used for the Formula 1 and MotoGP can be divided in two different circuits, called north and south. Normally raced clockwise direction, the total length of the race track is 5.54 km. With a couple of sweeping corners and wide straights the layout the circuit is quite unusual next to the other circuits.
Sepang Circuit is one the most newest circuits started building 1998 and opened 9 March 1999 by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. This state-of-art-circuit is known as the Home of Motorsports in Malaysia. It makes Malaysia a hub for motor racing activities in the region and a catalyst to spark a new beginning of Malaysia’s motorsports.
In Sepang the weather plays a particular role. It’s very hot what makes it more difficult for the drivers to be focused on the track. Choosing the right tyres can have a major influence on the outcome of the race during the Singapore Grand Prix.
