Shanghai International Circuit is hosted their first Grand Prix in 2004. Michael Schumacher was the one who won the first Grand Prix on the new Shanghai Circuit and still holds the best circuit time ever set on the Shanghai Circuit.
The Circuit of the Chinese F1 was financed by a government-funded joint-venture company, consisting of the Shanghai Juss Corporation, Shanghai National Property Management Co Ltd, and Shanghai Jia'an Investment and Development Co Ltd, costing around $450 million. The circuit was build within 18 months, by 3000 engineers working around the clock.
Formula 1 cars are able to reach speeds over 300km/h easily. The long back straight is designed for F1 cars to test their top speed limits, followed by a hairpin turn going towards the finish there is another long straight that lays in font of the main grandstand. Further more the circuits have some nice curved turns where there is always room for some great action.
